ArctiSeal Sealing Mats and Films for Microplates

ArctiSeal is Arctic White's own brand of sealing mats, strips and films for microplates, covering 24, 48, 96 and 384 well plates in round and square well formats.

Most mats are molded silicone with a PTFE coating on the sealing face. Other options use a PTFE film, EVA, TPE (solid or pierceable) or polyethylene, and an Impermat silicone mat is listed as chemical resistant. Plug shapes follow the plate: round bottom, flat bottom, flat bottom XL, large diameter and deep plug.

Choose the finish by how you sample. Standard mats close the plate. Pre-scored mats are scored for manual or automated sampling through the seal; the ArctiSeal sealing film is pre-slit over each well. Full mats cover the whole plate, while 8-plug strips seal one row at a time on a partly filled plate.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a standard and a pre-scored ArctiSeal mat?
A standard mat closes the plate and comes off to reach the wells. A pre-scored mat is scored for manual or automated sampling through the seal, so the plate can stay covered. Many formats come both ways, for example AWSM-1003S (standard) and AWSM-1003SX (pre-scored) for 96 square well plates.

Should I choose a PTFE coating or a PTFE film?
Both put PTFE on the face of the silicone mat. The catalog lists them as separate options for the same plates: for 96 square well plates, AWSM-1003S has a PTFE coating and AWSM-1003SAMF has a PTFE film. Ask us which suits your method.

Is there a sterile or nuclease-free sealing mat?
Yes. The EVA mats AWSM-219004 (96 square well) and AWSM-219036 (96 round well) are listed as DNase-free and RNase-free, and AWSM-219042 is the pre-sterilized 96 round well EVA mat.

Can I seal only part of a plate?
Yes. 8-plug strips seal one row at a time on 96 round well plates, for example AWSM-1202FB (flat-bottom, large-diameter deep plugs) and AWSM-2812RB (round bottom). AWSM-T105-26 supplies strips of eight for 96 square well plates.
